The Real Deal

Beckham first, now Owen and Woodgate are at Real. Is continental football wising up to the skill of English football players? or is the most successful football club in the history of the game simply making commercial investments? Today's football is both business and sport so these investments are sound on both parts.

Will Owen replace Raul as Madrid's top striker? Raul has always been good but not the one, it's about time they realised this. Beckham will feel more at home now that Mickey and Jonny have joined him at the Bernabeu. I have never really been that sure of Woodgate's talent so it will be great to see him play alongside perhaps the best defender in the world, Walter Samuel.

Looking forward to seeing a few games at my newly-adopted club. Anyone wish to join me? The Ambassador's Residence awaits...

The Great Olympics Debate

With my brother working for London 2012 and the Athens Olympics in full effect I am interested to find out if the Olympics is actually worth the bother. Poor crowd attendances, drugs cheats and poor performances do not suggest that it is a great thing for us to hold the Olympics. Ok, so we have been promised a new and improved transport system etc but do we have to have the Olympics to do this; can't we just invest in the transport system anyway? Each Londoner will have to pay £400 for the privilege of having the Olympics in London, can't this be directly spent on transport so we have a leading network, not one that will require further development ten years down the line! Also past Olympics have hardly improved the situation in the cities they were held; Sydney and Atlanta have lost huge amounts of money and the stadiums are poorly used and have any of you ever been to Seoul?

What's weird is that I am still pro the Olympics because all-in-all I am a sport fan. The transport system will be improved and this is a good thing too. If it takes a major sporting event to improve London's tubes, trains and buses then I am all for it; I am sick and tired of feeling like I have been arse raped in a sauna every time I get off the tube. I think Londoner will also be more welcome to the events then Athens has been: a) We are sport mad b) People do not leave London to get away from the heat like they do in Athens in the height of the Summer and c) We went crazy for Euro 1996 and the Commonwealth Games.

But then again we might not even get it...

Blogger

New design, new effort to actually try and do something with my blogger. Keep posted for new developments. Oh by the way, I have jumped from the Pirate ship and looking for work elsewhere...the life of uncertainty and no money awaits!

Wishes for the new football campaign:
1. Arsenal to retain the Premiership.
2. MK Scum to get relegated or simply disappear.
3. AFC to get promoted and get into the FA Cup proper.
4. Owen to score 20+ goals at Real Madrid.
5. Beckham to win over the Real faithful and British press.
