Three things have just come into my life that I had to give a shout about.
1. Benson, my new family dog. He's awesome.
A rocking dog
2. Bruce Parry, adventurer and presenter of the BBC's Tribe and now
Amazon.
3. Kings of Leon, now legendary rock band and creators of the year's greatest album,
Only By The Night.
Now for the villain. Gordon Brown's speech today has already been dubbed by many of his party as the greatest of his life. Perhaps so, but do we actually remember any of his others? Honestly it was a good speech - but for one thing, it was delivered by Mr Brown, a politician that 'apparently' doesn't believe in PR. Much of the speech was focused around a new direction, a new future etc - in fact 'new' was
the word that the Prime Minister used the most. How can he be the one offering a new approach if he is the one who has been in power for the last eleven years? The speech was
a last desperate attempt by a politician who has spent too long number crunching in Westminster he's forgotten how to connect with the public. I'm fascinated to see how the Conservatives respond, the scrutiny is now on them, and then to see how the public respond as they are often a fickle bunch.
Update: meant to link to
this article too. It helpfully sums up the New Labour movement.
